Chicken was cooked completely through, and sides were yummy. I would like to see a few fresh side dishes and a few more menu items. $7.95 It wasn't my favorite BBQ, but it wasn't terrible either. Beans were cold, coleslaw was weird with the jalapeño chips on top with an extra $2 charge. My wife heard amazing reviews on Food Lovers Des Moines. And the sauce to dip them in was fantastic. Great experience. Big Al came to our table and introduced himself personally. We made the trek to the south side location. Get $50 in certificates for just $25! On to the BBQ. The deviled egg potato salad was all mustard and no mayo. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT- IOWA you can do better. Are they offering sit-down dining?How is this business operating during COVID-19?

Big Al is exceptionally personable. Ordered Brisket and Pulled pork. He took our orders immediately but didn't bring our waters til after our meal was delivered. I didn't like Big Al's. We will be back.My first time going to Big Al's. The only reasons I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was I would like to try some more items on the menu and go there few more times before I give the fifth star. The meat was one degree above room temperature. Please don't expect KC or Texas style bbq here. The barbecue beans were Savory and sweet and I enjoyed them, but the creamed corn was very Bland even though it had a slight kick to it because of the chunks of jalapeno. Uh, hello...Bloody Mary's? It's located inside the Ramada hotel.My first time at this restaurant and I really enjoyed it. Love its close proximity to me! Al makes it like home.2 visits. We were seated quickly and saw our server shortly after sitting down. We then hurried with the rest of our dinner as we felt uncomfortable.

I was afraid I'd get food poisoning. But just take a cab or an Uber or whatever at least from the restaurant to the hotel because you will be stuffed. Stacking chairs and moving tables around! I think our waitress was named Courtney. Come for family friendly dining with the best BBQ cooked low and slow to fall off the bone! The pulled pork I had here is as good as it gets. It's located inside the Ramada hotel.
