I would 100% recommend it for anyone who wants to begin research into Celtic mythology as an excellent starting point (and just for its stories, which are all highly charming!)
Stories are classic, and most of them are not well known.
A very good place to start or return to for an overview of important Celtic elements.I really enjoyed myself with this book. You can dip in and out, reading a different tale each day. It is an easy read, not at all intimidating, as the stories are not long., and you will be absorbed in them before you know it. Peter Berresford Ellis is the author of such histories as The Celtic Empire and, under the pen name Peter Tremayne, of the Sister Fidelma mystery series. I had hoped to learn more about gods and goddesses, and in that, I was disappointed. You're listening to a sample of the Audible audio edition.Something went wrong. They vary quite a bit in scope.
Ellis is an authority on the Celts.Amazon calculates a product’s star ratings based on a machine learned model instead of a raw data average. The flashbacks were at times completely confusing and the constant change of names of the heroes made me have troubles to keep track of every character in each short story. More often than not I find myself confused as to when these stories are being told which made it quite hard for me to actually picture the story being told; for instance, the final story is supposed to be set before the birth of christ and makes it a being point for no real reason) yet gaiters play a prominent role in the story. The mammoth 'extremely-long-title' book is just that.

It's a more tell, don't show type of book and that bored me at times but it gives exactly what I had expected of from the synopsis and title of the book.Iconic is the word I want to use to describe these tales; to which I think that would be a half correct description. Celtic Myths and Legends also retells the story of the classic tragic love story of Tristan and Iseult (probably of Cornish origin—there was a real King Mark and a real Tristan in Cornwall) and the original tale of King Arthur, a Welsh leader who fought against the invading Anglo-Saxons.
Peter Berresford Ellis writes in a detailed and informative way from beginning to end. I used this product to read up on the Celtic Myths and have found quite a comprehensive selection of them. If you're looking to learn more about the Celts or Celtic mythology, you should also augment it with other sources as well.
