My new projection for the Irish in ACC play is 7-3 or 8-2, meaning I am expecting about the same winning percentage in league play with the new schedule as I was with the prior slate of ACC games. The Demon Deacons already had a fairly difficult draw in league play with Duke, Miami, NC State, Syracuse, Louisville, and Clemson. Under new head coach Jeff Hafley, I had the Eagles picked to go 2-6 in ACC play in 2019. And for a team like NC State, games against teams in the upper two thirds of the league mean games in which the Wolfpack is a likely underdog. That’s tough, as the Eagles project as small to huge underdogs in all five. Notre Dame and Miami are better than any team on Louisville’s existing schedule not named Clemson, and Pitt is also likely a top-half team in the league. And to be clear, the new schedule is not difficult. But now Miami drops Duke from the schedule, which was one of its likely easiest opponents.
